Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-acuity nursing care to pediatric ICU patients in the PICU
• Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes
• Administer medications and advanced therapies safely and according to protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Educate and support families during critical care situations with clear, empathetic communication
• Document care accurately and maintain continuity through handoffs and care coordination
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to uphold unit standards and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (Massachusetts license or applicable compact credential) — required
• Experience working in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or comparable pediatric critical care environment
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification — required; PALS and ACLS preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills in high-acuity pediatric care
• Ability to clear background checks and required pre-employment screenings
• Excellent communication skills and a patient- and family-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in pediatric critical care nursing and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with ventilator management, infusion pumps, and advanced pediatric monitoring
• Skilled in medication administration, titration, and emergency response
• Proficient clinical documentation and care coordination
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and support family-centered care
