Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to oncology and trauma patients in a PCU/MedSurg setting
• Monitor and titrate drips such as heparin, cardizem, and insulin as needed
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PT/OT, case managers, and social workers
• Float to med/surg and PCU units as required, maintaining the same level of care
• Ensure patient safety and satisfaction through hourly rounding and a positive attitude
• Take charge nurse responsibilities if experienced
• Administer chemotherapy and manage oncology patients from diagnosis through end-of-life care

Qualifications

• 1+ year of PCU, Med/Surg, or Oncology experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• ACLS and BLS certifications required at time of start
• ONS/ONCC certification preferred; Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• EPIC experience preferred, but not a deal breaker
• Must pass an open-book exam with 90% during orientation (resources provided)
• Driver's license required to verify 50-mile radius from facility; no current employment with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology and trauma patient care management
• Hemodynamic monitoring including CVP, A-line, Swan, and EV-1000
• Ventilator management and real-time training available
• Chemotherapy administration and handling
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude during challenging times
