Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced PCU unit caring for adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and DM diagnoses
• Titrate critical drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Monitor continuous EEG and telemetry, assess patient vitals and intervene as needed
• Collaborate with charge nurse and interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes
• Float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed to support the hospital
• Maintain a positive attitude, strong communication, and critical thinking in high-pressure situations

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU or step-down experience preferred
• Must pass an open-book exam during orientation with 90% score
• Valid driver's license to verify 50-mile radius compliance
• No artificial nails - policy requires natural nails in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in titrating cardiac and seizure medications
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Positive attitude and problem-solving mindset
