Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures to ensure proper functioning of all therapeutic equipment.
• Assure daily output and quality assessment checks of radiation producing equipment.
• Perform clinical QA, acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibrations on new and repaired equipment.
• Oversee technical aspects of dosimetrist and therapist activities.
• Participate in IOeRT treatments and assure machine performance through QA procedures.
• Assist dosimetry in treatment planning for External Beam, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, and Brachytherapy.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists and staff on optimal treatment plans.
• Perform treatment planning for High Dose Rate Treatments and monitor patients during treatment.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Medical Physics, Physics, or related field required; Doctor's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of clinical experience highly preferred.
• Completed residency within the past 5 years required.
• Board Certified Radiation Therapy Physicist by the American Board of Medical Physics or American Board of Radiology required.
• Eligible to be an Authorized Medical Physicist by Iowa DHHS highly preferred.
• Certification by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent in therapeutic Medical Physics required within 3 years of hire.

Education

• Master of Science in Medical Physics, Physics, or related field required. Doctor's degree preferred.
