Shift Type: Primarily day shifts (rotating weekdays) — 8-hour day: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; 10-hour day shifts (start times vary); 12-hour day shifts; Mids start 9:00 AM or 10:45 AM. Call: 1-2 weeknights per week and weekend call approximately 1x/month (from end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday). Schedule includes weekdays with rotating weekend coverage (day/rotating).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room, maintaining 1:1 patient ratios for safe, focused care
• Prepare the OR and sterile field, assist surgical teams across total joint arthroplasty, general, vascular, spine and other specialty cases
• Document thoroughly and accurately using Cerner Surginet to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Respond to call assignments and manage weekend/weeknight coverage professionally and reliably
• Collaborate with OR techs, anesthesia, RT, pharmacy and surgical leadership to coordinate efficient case flow for 25–45 cases/day
• Support patient safety and infection control through strict adherence to sterile technique and perioperative best practices
• Act as a resource during complex cases and escalate when needed to the Clinical Supervisor or OR leadership

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to work in California)
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/OR nursing experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• COVID-19 vaccination required (per site policy)
• Strong hands-on experience with total joint arthroplasty, general, vascular and spine surgeries
• Comfortable with ventilator management and Phillips telemetry monitoring
• Ability to perform under call demands (weeknights and occasional weekend coverage) and adapt to variable shift lengths
• Successful completion of a floor-specific orientation: one shift with preceptor plus 12 orientation hours

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN — BSN not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and OR workflow
• Total joint arthroplasty, general, vascular and spine surgical knowledge
• Familiarity with Cerner Surginet / Cerner EMR charting
• Sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety best practices
• Telemetry (Phillips) and ventilator basics
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Team collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, RT, pharmacy and OR techs
