Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to oncology and PCU patients, supporting them from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life care
• Administer chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and other critical medications while monitoring for side effects
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including PT/OT, case managers, and social workers to ensure holistic care
• Float to med/surg and PCU units as needed, maintaining high standards across patient populations
• Perform hourly rounding, patient assessments, and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, etc.)
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and self-care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Oncology nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• ONS/ONCC certification required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
• Must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
• Driver's license required to verify 50-mile radius from facility
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of oncology patient care and chemotherapy administration
• Proficiency in managing titratable drips (insulin, cardizem) and ventilator settings
• Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan-Ganz, EV-1000)
• Experience with EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude
• Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse patient backgrounds
