Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert critical care to adults in the Medical ICU, managing complex multisystem organ failure
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias and take rapid, appropriate action
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator adjustments and respiratory weaning protocols
• Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation safely and in accordance with protocols
• Support renal replacement therapy workflows, including familiarity with NxStage CRRT
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, PT, pharmacy, rapid response) to optimize patient outcomes
• Use specialized equipment (Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors/ventilators) and follow unit-specific procedures like externalized IV pumps and continuous glucose monitoring

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU (MICU) experience required
• EPIC documentation experience required
• Current BCLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications (AHA certifications only)
• Proficiency with IV start and telemetry
• Competency in ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Comfort floating to other units within the hospital system as needed

• Critical care nursing and care of ventilated patients
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Ventilator management and respiratory failure care
• Continuous IV sedation and complex medication management
• NxStage CRRT and management of renal failure patients
• Alaris IV pump operation and externalized IV pump workflows
• GE cardiac monitors and GE ventilator familiarity
• Continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia management
• Strong EPIC charting skills and accurate clinical documentation
