Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for med/surg patients on a 12-hour shift
• Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and on time
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses thoroughly in the chart
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support smooth handoffs and clear communication during shift changes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain licensure
• BLS required; ACLS and other specialty certifications encouraged when applicable
• Clinical experience or training in Medical-Surgical nursing is preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and function well in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and bedside nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Familiarity with hospital documentation and electronic medical records
• Infection control best practices and safe patient handling
• Time management, prioritization and effective clinical judgment
