Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries such as total knee and hip replacements, ankle replacements, and spinal procedures
• Monitor patient condition, administer medications including pain management and IV antibiotics, and manage blood transfusions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, patient care techs, and telemetry techs to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on post-surgical care and recovery plans
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies including fingernail policy and on-call response time

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state required
• BLS certification required
• Experience in Med Surg or Orthopedic nursing preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented with strong communication and flexibility skills
• Driver's license required for radius verification

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing knowledge including joint replacement and spine care
• Medication administration including pain medications, antibiotics, and blood products
• Patient assessment and monitoring with telemetry boxes
• Electronic health record proficiency
• Flexibility and adaptability to float to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU as needed
