Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered Med/Surg nursing care to adult medical and surgical patients
• Assess and monitor patient condition, intervene promptly, and escalate concerns to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately in Meditech
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate plans of care and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
• Maintain safe patient ratios and adapt to unit staffing needs, including floating to other departments as required
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate communication and professionalism

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in Tennessee or valid compact license)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with Med/Surg experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Comfortable using Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour night shifts and meet weekend coverage requirements
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med/Surg nursing knowledge and judgment
• Proficient in patient assessment, medication administration, and IV care
• Experience with electronic health records (Meditech) and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient safety
• Team-oriented mindset with effective communication across disciplines
• Adaptability to float to other units and support variable patient ratios (unit uses 6:1 ratio)
