Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor and postpartum nursing care for mothers and neonates
• Continuously monitor fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and act quickly on changes
• Perform IUPC placement and calibration to support labor management
• Circulate for C-section procedures and perform sterile vaginal exams when indicated
• Administer medications and manage drips including insulin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and anticoagulation therapy
• Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC) and perform phlebotomy and IV therapy safely
• Triage obstetrical patients and coordinate care across the interdisciplinary team
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and quality
• Support and precept colleagues when needed, sharing your expertise to elevate the unit

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure appropriate for practice in California (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of labor and postpartum experience required; strong travel experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
• Preferred certification: AWHONN Advanced
• Must have experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, neonatal care, and labor & delivery management
• Travel nursing experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Must provide RTO (return-to-office) restrictions at time of submission
• Comfortable floating between similar units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Epic charting and documentation
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and interventions
• IUPC placement and intrauterine pressure monitoring
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line (CVC/PICC) maintenance
• Medication administration and management of drips (insulin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives)
• Circulating for C-section and performing sterile vaginal exams
• Neonatal care and triage of obstetrical patients
• Isolation Precautions/PPE and infection control practices
• Strong precepting and mentorship abilities
