Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-acuity labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
• Circulate and scrub for C-sections and assist the OR team to ensure smooth, safe procedures
• Administer and monitor IV medications, including magnesium drips, with vigilant assessment and documentation
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia for epidurals and spinals and support patients through perioperative care
• Perform or assist with procedures such as cerclage and external cephalic version as appropriate
• Document all patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes in condition to the multidisciplinary team
• Float within the women's and children's service line as needed while maintaining continuity and safety of care
• Support transitions of care to Level III NICU when neonatal high-acuity situations arise

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery clinical experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification noted in job materials (list when available)
• Experience with Meditech documentation and CPN helpful
• Comfortable with scrub/OR circulating roles and high-paced L&D environments
• Ability to manage high-acuity patients and IV drips such as magnesium

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal heart monitoring and maternal-fetal assessment skills
• Meditech electronic health record proficiency
• OR circulating and scrub workflow for C-sections
• IV medication administration and titration experience (magnesium and other obstetric drips)
• Familiarity with Level III NICU practices and neonatal handoffs
• Excellent communication, triage, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team
