Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate the mobile lab and, when needed, drive the delivery van to service high-volume STAT testing areas
• Perform waived point-of-care laboratory testing (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular, Coagulation) with precision
• Conduct venipuncture and capillary specimen collection and ensure proper specimen processing and logging
• Enter and verify patient demographics, test orders, and results into the lab information system (LIS)
• Run and document quality control (QC), monitor reagent integrity, and escalate QC issues in real time
• Confirm and flag abnormal or rare results for supervisory review before release
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshoot client, instrument, and computer issues
• Maintain inventory, document lot numbers and QC records, and follow all safety and infection-control protocols

Qualifications

• Must be licensed in California as an MLT, LVN, or CLS — NO PHLEBOTOMISTS
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to safely operate a delivery van
• COVID-19 vaccination required or approved exemption documentation
• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); any required state certifications/licensure must be current
• Previous phlebotomy and laboratory testing experience highly preferred
• Strong attention to detail, good verbal and written communication, and ability to work independently in mobile settings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Licensed Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) OR Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) — California testing personnel qualification for waived testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary collection
• Point-of-care and waived testing procedures and QC practices
• Specimen handling, processing, and accurate LIS/data entry
• Instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repair awareness
• Familiarity with Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular and Coagulation testing
• Comfortable following safety protocols and handling biohazards
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage STAT turnaround time goals
