Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in the acute care/inpatient rehab setting and develop individualized care plans
• Deliver therapeutic interventions to improve function and mobility, using best-practice techniques
• Supervise and coordinate patient-centered therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, SLPs and rehab techs
• Document assessments, plans and progress accurately in Cerner PowerChart
• Communicate evaluation results and progress clearly with patients, families and interdisciplinary staff
• Utilize patient lifting equipment and safe transfer techniques to ensure patient and staff safety

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience (as listed); at least 1 year acute care experience preferred
• Experience with orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary patient populations is helpful
• Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care environment with 1:1 patient ratios

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and functional assessment
• Care plan development and therapeutic intervention planning
• Familiarity with Cerner PowerChart documentation
• Use of patient lifting equipment (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove), walkers and gait belts
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Ability to prioritize caseloads in an acute inpatient setting
