Roles & Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and prepare them for clinical care in the ambulatory setting
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints accurately
- Assist clinicians with exams and minor procedures in a professional, calm manner
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection (e.g., phlebotomy) as needed
- Document encounters in the electronic health record promptly and clearly
- Coordinate patient flow to keep the clinic running smoothly and on schedule
- Support patient education and follow-up instructions to promote good outcomes
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant diploma/certificate preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred when applicable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required or obtained upon hire
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient-facing work
- Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR) and basic clinical equipment
- Previous ambulatory or clinic experience is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certificate/diploma or related coursework preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient intake and triage in an outpatient/ambulatory setting
- Taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Basic phlebotomy and specimen handling skills
- Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and keep clinic flow efficient
- Professional communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams
