Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate compassionate nursing care for residents across all ages, tailoring to their unique needs
• Lead patient and family teaching while collaborating with the healthcare team to uphold top nursing standards
• Perform thorough nursing assessments through interviews, observation, and the nursing process
• Administer medications accurately and manage care plans with physicians and team members
• Prioritize care based on acuity, anticipate issues, and adapt swiftly to changes or emergencies
• Document everything meticulously in EHR and ensure confidentiality of resident information
• Educate residents, families, and staff to boost understanding and promote optimal health outcomes
• Step up as charge nurse when needed and supervise CNAs, LPNs, and ward clerks with confidence

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska (or applied for before start date)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and every year
• Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Associate's degree in nursing or Diploma in nursing)
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong grasp of nursing principles, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Competency in recognizing emergencies and pharmaceuticals including effects and side effects
• Proficient in EHR documentation, medication administration, and basic nursing procedures
• Skilled in operating medical equipment like AED and applying scientific principles
• Excellent oral and written communication to connect with residents and teams
• Ability to lead, delegate, and foster cooperative relationships in high-pressure settings
