Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate compassionate nursing care for residents across all ages, tailoring to their unique needs
- Lead patient and family teaching while collaborating with the healthcare team to uphold top nursing standards
- Perform thorough nursing assessments through interviews, observation, and the nursing process
- Administer medications accurately and manage care plans with physicians and team members
- Prioritize care based on acuity, anticipate issues, and adapt swiftly to changes or emergencies
- Document everything meticulously in EHR and ensure confidentiality of resident information
- Educate residents, families, and staff to boost understanding and promote optimal health outcomes
- Step up as charge nurse when needed and supervise CNAs, LPNs, and ward clerks with confidence
Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska (or applied for before start date)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
- Clinical Competency Assessment within 3 months of hire and every three years
- High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and every year
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Associate's degree in nursing or Diploma in nursing)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong grasp of nursing principles, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Competency in recognizing emergencies and pharmaceuticals including effects and side effects
- Proficient in EHR documentation, medication administration, and basic nursing procedures
- Skilled in operating medical equipment like AED and applying scientific principles
- Excellent oral and written communication to connect with residents and teams
- Ability to lead, delegate, and foster cooperative relationships in high-pressure settings
