Roles & Responsibilities

Lead and manage the surgical services team, ensuring safe, efficient patient care and smooth OR operations
Supervise circulating RNs and ancillary staff, delegating tasks and maintaining high standards of practice
Identify, evaluate, and implement both short-term fixes and long-term improvements to surgical workflows
Coordinate emergency response efforts in the surgical department while maintaining composure under pressure
Oversee patient care processes including perioperative and post-anesthesia coordination to optimize outcomes
Collaborate closely with physicians, peers, and ancillary departments to enhance interdisciplinary communication
Monitor staffing, training, and competency needs; support staff development and strong team performance

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing — required
Bachelor degree or equivalent — required
Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery — required
California RN license — current and required
AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS — current and required
CNOR — preferred
One year post-anesthesia care experience — preferred
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience — preferred
Strong written and oral English skills — required

Education

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor degree or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Surgical services management and circulating RN expertise
Supervision, delegation, and team leadership
Problem identification, evaluation, and process improvement
Emergency response and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Patient-centered perioperative and post-anesthesia care
Effective communication with physicians, peers, and ancillary departments
