Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality menu items following hospital recipes and portioning guidelines
• Plate meals and package orders accurately for patient trays and staff dining
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow strict sanitation and food safety standards
• Coordinate with dietary staff and food service supervisors to meet patient dietary needs
• Manage food prep and stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness
• Communicate clearly and positively with team members during busy service periods

Qualifications

• Previous line cook or kitchen experience preferred; hospital or large-volume kitchen experience is a plus
• ServSafe or equivalent food handling certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion controls consistently
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and standing for long periods
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; culinary certificate or formal training is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knife skills and basic culinary techniques
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention
• Ability to read and follow recipes and dietary specifications
• Time management and multi-tasking during high-volume meal periods
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset

This is a contract position in Fort Pierce, FL — a sunny coastal spot on Florida’s Treasure Coast. When you’re off shift you can explore sandy beaches and waterfront parks, enjoy local fishing and boating on the Indian River Lagoon, stroll historic downtown Fort Pierce with its shops, art galleries and the Sunrise Theatre, or visit the nearby Navy SEAL Museum and nature preserves.
