Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients in an acute care setting, assisting with daily living activities
• Monitor and record vital signs and patient status accurately and promptly
• Support safe patient transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lifting aides
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Maintain clear, professional documentation and report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies to keep patients and staff safe
• Respond to patient needs quickly and calmly, contributing to a reassuring environment
• Participate in unit huddles and continuing education to improve skills and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — Hawaii certification preferred or eligibility to obtain
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Previous acute care experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills encouraged to apply
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively on a fast-paced care team
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (standing, walking, assisting with transfers)

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Skill in taking and documenting vital signs and patient observations
• Familiarity with infection prevention practices and personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems for documentation
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach
• Ability to prioritize tasks and stay organized in a busy acute care environment
