Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices
• Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents
• Support dining and hydration needs, documenting intake concerns
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident care plans
• Communicate clearly and warmly with residents, families, and staff to enhance quality of life

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• Valid state requirements for nursing assistants in Maryland (per facility policy)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB test per facility guidelines
• Background check and drug screen clearance as required
• Previous experience in long-term care or rehab settings preferred; new grads welcome

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of resident-centered care and geriatric best practices
• Ability to safely assist with ADLs, transfers, and basic mobility
• Competent in taking and recording vital signs accurately
• Good communication skills and a calm, patient demeanor
• Basic documentation and charting skills; attention to detail
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and direction
