Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming) to preserve resident dignity
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Measure and document vital signs accurately and maintain clear resident records
• Assist with meals and feeding while observing dietary needs and safety precautions
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, promoting person-centered care
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure residents’ comfort, safety, and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in Maryland (required)
• CPR/BLS certification required or must be obtained upon hire
• Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred; enthusiastic new graduates welcome
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required immunizations (e.g., TB, COVID if applicable)
• Comfort working night shifts and flexible per-diem schedule
• Reliable transportation to the facility in Bowie, MD

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADLs and dementia-aware care approaches
• Basic vital sign measurement and accurate documentation
• Infection control practices and standard precautions
• Safe transfer and patient handling techniques
• Strong observational skills and clear communication with nursing staff
• Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize resident needs
