Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate support during meals and help with feeding as needed
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any concerning changes to the nursing team
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of resident care and behavior
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents

Qualifications

• Active GNA or equivalent certification required (state-recognized credential)
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, resident-centered care
• Clear background check and any state-required health screenings or immunizations

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Skilled in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Good observation skills to notice subtle changes in condition
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Basic documentation skills and comfort with charting resident care
• Knowledge of infection control and safety practices
