Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly with colleagues and family members
• Follow infection control procedures and facility policies to keep residents safe

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or equivalent state-recognized certification)
• Prior experience caring for older adults preferred but new grads with training are welcome
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Compassion, patience, strong communication skills, and a teamwork mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• GNA certification or completion of an approved geriatric nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with basic geriatric care principles and safety practices
• Skilled in safe resident transfers and mobility assistance
• Comfortable assisting with personal care while preserving resident dignity
• Good observational skills to notice changes in condition and behavior
• Clear documentation habits and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams
