Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to older adults, helping with personal care and mobility
• Assist nursing staff with vitals, documentation, and basic clinical tasks as directed
• Support residents with meal assistance, feeding, and monitoring food intake
• Create a warm, respectful environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
• Observe and promptly report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection prevention protocols
• Contribute to accurate charting and care plan updates to support quality outcomes

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (state-specific) — required
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Minimum experience caring for older adults or in long-term care preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and compassion for geriatric populations

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• State GNA certification or equivalent credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe resident transfers
• Familiarity with documentation standards and care plan communication
• Infection control practices and safe use of PPE
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
• Ability to follow direction from RNs and collaborate within a care team
