Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, includes weekends and occasional float shifts (typical schedule averages 72-80 hours every two weeks)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $77 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate Labor & Delivery care, managing births and supporting families through labor
- Deliver nursery and couplet care to newborns and postpartum mothers with attention and skill
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring and act promptly on changes
- Manage a busy delivery load (approximately 45-50 deliveries per month) while maintaining safe, evidence-based practice
- Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating the unit and supporting other team members
- Float to assist other departments as assigned to support hospital needs and continuity of care
- Document care accurately in the chart, communicate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, breastfeeding, and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- Proven Labor & Delivery and Nursery RN experience with couplet care
- Intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring competency (required)
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and handling a busy birth volume
- BLS required; NRP and other relevant neonatal certifications strongly preferred
- Charge nurse and float pool experience are a plus
- Ability to work in a rural community hospital setting with flexibility and teamwork
Education
- Current RN licensure required; ADN or BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and response skills
- Newborn assessment and nursery procedures including couplet care
- Skilled in postpartum maternal care and emergency obstetrical responses
- Proficient charting and electronic health record navigation
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and rapid decision-making under pressure
- Team collaboration, patient education, and family-centered care approach
