Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care for Mercy LIFE participants
• Administer medications and follow physician orders accurately and safely
• Perform routine assessments and monitor vital signs, reporting changes promptly
• Document care thoroughly and maintain clear, timely charting in the EHR
• Assist with activities of daily living and promote patient independence
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support care plans and goals
• Follow infection control policies and maintain a safe environment
• Respond professionally to participant needs and emergencies

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Alabama (or eligible to obtain)
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or required per facility
• Required immunizations and health screenings as listed: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Physical/Health Statement, 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon), COVID-19 vaccine, Influenza vaccine
• Negative Trinity 10 Panel drug screen and ability to pass background checks
• Comfortable working in home- and community-based care settings
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude

Education

• Diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and basic wound care knowledge
• Patient assessment and documentation best practices
• Familiarity with electronic health records and charting
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Time management and ability to prioritize multiple patients
• Empathy, active listening, and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a care team
