Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide consultative inpatient gastroenterology services for unassigned and United Digestive patients during your clinical blocks
• Perform timely, thorough general GI consults and develop patient-centered treatment plans
• Collaborate closely with advanced practice providers (APPs) and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate inpatient care
• Document consults and clinical decisions clearly and efficiently in the medical record
• Participate in the 7-on/7-off hospitalist schedule and communicate handoffs effectively
• Support quality improvement initiatives and help maintain high standards of clinical care
• Mentor and work alongside APPs and new graduates in a collegial training environment

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (physician) — ready to care for inpatient GI patients
• Board eligible or board certified status in Gastroenterology or equivalent specialty training (preferred)
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S. — this position does not accept visa candidates
• Not accepting Locum tenens candidates — permanent role only
• Open to new graduate physicians through 2025 — you’ll be welcomed and supported
• Comfortable working a 7-on/7-off day-shift hospitalist schedule and collaborating with APPs
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and commitment to teamwork

Education

• MD or DO (required)
• Completion of residency and Gastroenterology fellowship (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Inpatient consultative service experience or strong interest in inpatient GI care
• Proficiency in general gastroenterology consults and inpatient management
• Experience working with and supervising Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
• Ability to coordinate care across teams and communicate clearly with patients and families
• Familiarity with inpatient documentation and consult workflows
• Comfortable with a day-focused consult schedule (7:30 AM - 5:00 PM) and timely decision-making
