Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms and sterile instrument sets prior to procedures
Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure a safe surgical field
Anticipate and hand instruments to surgeons efficiently and accurately
Assist the perioperative team with setup, turnover, and cleanup between cases
Count instruments, sponges, and supplies to ensure patient safety
Communicate clearly with nurses and surgeons to support smooth case flow
Participate in orientation and training to stay current with facility protocols

Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or completion of an accredited surgical technology program
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
Prior experience in the operating room or surgical setting preferred
Ability to work effectively with surgical teams and follow sterile technique
Current state licensure or ability to obtain licensure as required by facility

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent
High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR safety protocols
Familiarity with common surgical instruments, trays, and implants
Ability to anticipate needs and respond quickly during procedures
Good communication skills and professional teamwork
Attention to detail for accurate counts and documentation
