Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and implement clinical education curriculum for long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell
- Standardize and streamline clinical competency programs to meet policy and accreditation standards
- Partner with clinical leaders to create training that improves patient care and supports staff growth
- Support preceptorships and coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA and UAS
- Evaluate educational activities and use evidence-based research to improve professional development and outcomes
- Serve as a collaborative member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to consortium-wide projects
- Act as liaison for clinical education opportunities and ensure alignment with SEARHC mission and standards
- Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions, skills fairs, and competency assessments
Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
- Current full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state required; direct hires must have applied for Alaska license before start date
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
- BLS Instructor certification preferred (or must be obtained within 1 year of hire)
- Clinical competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and maintained every 3 years
- Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
- 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be replaced by supervisory experience)
- Supervisory experience preferred
Education
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — required
Knowledge & Skills
- Adult learning principles and curriculum development
- Clinical competency assessment and standardization
- Evidence-based practice and program evaluation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with TEAMS, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
- Ability to develop and deliver in-person and virtual training, run skills fairs, and ensure competency compliance
- Leadership, collaboration, and policy compliance in a healthcare setting
- Patient-centered care with expertise in adult and geriatric populations
