Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care
Operate and manage ventilators and advanced airway equipment safely and effectively
Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and assist with pulmonary diagnostics
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans
Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and home care strategies
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure respiratory equipment is safe and ready

Qualifications

Current Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program (Associate or Bachelor degree)
Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred
Clinical respiratory therapy experience preferred
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment

Education

Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent); Bachelor of Science preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Ventilator management and advanced airway care
Arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpretation
Oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and pulmonary diagnostics
Critical thinking in acute and emergency respiratory situations
Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
Team collaboration and clear patient-centered communication
