Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal) with precision and professionalism
• Conduct exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography and provide accurate cardiac stress testing
• Perform EKGs, Holter preparations, monitoring, analysis, and other cardiac diagnostic procedures
• Operate and maintain cardiac diagnostic equipment including echocardiographs, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors, and computer analysis systems
• Assess and use hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and correct charging of studies
• Implement and model infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and proper equipment disinfection
• Provide preceptorship and clinical instruction to students from contracted colleges and universities
• Deliver age-specific patient care, including neonatal and pediatric echocardiography, with compassion and clinical expertise

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate and extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Extensive experience with pediatric and neonatal echocardiography
• Comfortable providing clinical instruction and preceptorship to students

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in transthoracic, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography
• Proficient with EKGs, Holter monitoring and cardiac stress testing
• Experienced in operating echocardiographs, electrocardiographs, cardiac stress systems and associated computer analysis tools
• Familiar with hospital scheduling and information systems for accurate processing and charging
• Strong infection control, aseptic technique and equipment disinfection practices
• Able to provide age-specific care across neonatal, pediatric and adult populations
• Able to teach and mentor students in a clinical setting
