Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality CT and X-ray imaging procedures following departmental imaging protocols and radiologist direction
• Practice radiation safety and adhere to ALARA standards to protect patients and staff
• Verify patient identity using two forms of ID, obtain informed consent when required, and document relevant medical history
• Operate and perform routine quality control on imaging equipment per manufacturer recommendations and report malfunctions immediately
• Notify radiologist and ordering physician of STAT/emergent cases and provide contact information as needed
• Provide patient education and compassionate patient care throughout the imaging process
• Assist with clerical tasks, patient transportation, supply inventory, and submission of required documentation to Health Information Management
• Train, assist, and cross-train imaging staff as directed to support team flexibility and coverage
• Participate in departmental and facility performance improvement, regulatory compliance, infection control, and safety activities

Qualifications

• ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and registration in at least one additional modality (CT, MR, M, N, S) — or eligible and obtain within 1 year of hire
• Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not already current)
• Able to legally work in the United States and pass background check, drug screen and employee health requirements
• Prior experience as a practicing technologist in one or more modalities listed; 2 years preferred
• Willingness to cross-train into CT, MRI, DEXA, Mammography and other imaging modalities
• Reliable, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and adapt schedule for coverage needs

Education

• ARRT registration in Radiology (R) plus one additional registry (CT, MR, M, N, S) or ARDMS/NMTCB where applicable — or eligible with requirement to obtain within 1 year
• BLS certification (current or obtained within 90 days)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with CT and X-ray imaging protocols and equipment operation
• Strong knowledge of radiation safety (ALARA) and quality control procedures
• Experience with PACS, RIS/HIS and electronic medical records
• Excellent patient identification, patient education and documentation skills
• Troubleshooting skills for equipment issues and ability to escalate to service engineers when needed
• Teamwork, time management, STAT communication and inventory management
• Familiarity or cross-training potential in MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography and DEXA
