Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high acuity CVICU nursing care for post-op and critically ill cardiac patients
• Manage ventilators and titrate ventilatory support per protocols
• Administer and titrate vasopressors and other vasoactive medications safely
• Monitor and care for arterial and central lines with precise documentation
• Assist with and support procedures such as intubation, bronchoscopy and chest tube management
• Document all care accurately in EPIC and communicate changes to the team
• Collaborate with physicians, RTs and other clinicians to drive positive patient outcomes
• Provide education and compassionate support to patients and families during critical moments
• Adhere to unit safety practices including appropriate use of restraints when required

Qualifications

• Active RN registration (compact or Utah license preferred) and current healthcare credentials
• ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; 1 year of very strong ICU experience may be considered
• Cardiac nursing experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated competence with ventilators, vasopressors, arterial and central line management
• Proven ability to document in EPIC
• Outgoing, team oriented attitude and ability to float to PCU when needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and CVICU nursing practices
• Ventilator management and respiratory support
• Vasopressor administration and titration
• Arterial line and central line monitoring and care
• Intubation support and rapid sequence intubation familiarity
• Experience with CRRT and IABP is a plus
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• Chest tube management and bronchoscopy support
