Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead implementation and maintenance of the internal risk management program to protect patients and the organization.
• Direct and oversee the organization-wide patient safety program, driving process improvements to reduce medical errors and adverse outcomes.
• Plan and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to identify system-based issues and corrective actions.
• Investigate, evaluate, and submit adverse incident reports in accordance with Alaska statutes and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and care teams when adverse incidents occur.
• Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and provide targeted risk management and patient safety education to departments and staff.
• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, the CMO, and corporate counsel on quality of care, peer review, and risk-related matters.
• Support accreditation and quality activities including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support to meet standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF).
• Monitor regulatory changes and industry risk trends and ensure organizational policies and practices remain compliant.
• Provide cross-coverage for other Quality Management team roles and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required). Direct hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license.
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years of hire.
• Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months of start and maintained every 3 years.
• Minimum 3 years of experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including planning and coordinating process changes.
• Proven leadership experience facilitating and leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with regulatory standards and accreditation processes (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) is highly desirable.

Education

• Active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required).

• Regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF)
