Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the continuum, using evidence-based practices
• Assess patient respiratory status and implement appropriate treatment plans
• Administer respiratory therapies and manage ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, therapies, and home care plans
• Document care accurately and timely in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain equipment readiness

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license valid in Louisiana (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from NBRC preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Comfortable with ventilator management and airway care in acute care settings
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; patient-centered mindset
• Previous acute care or hospital RT experience preferred but new grads may be considered

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapy modalities
• Skilled in arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation
• Knowledge of respiratory pharmacology and aerosolized medication delivery
• Ability to troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ensure proper maintenance
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
