Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the acute care setting
• Perform respiratory assessments and monitor patient status using appropriate equipment
• Administer respiratory therapies and treatments safely and effectively
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members on care plans
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate patient changes promptly
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment while following infection control policies
• Support patient and family education about respiratory conditions and home care

Qualifications

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist or equivalent credential in the state of Louisiana preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS or other advanced certifications a plus
• Clinical experience in acute care or hospital settings preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
• Commitment to following protocols, documentation standards, and teamwork

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited RT program preferred
• RRT credential or state licensure preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway management
• Comfort with respiratory assessment tools and monitoring equipment
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Good interpersonal skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Attention to detail for accurate charting and equipment maintenance
