Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable medical-surgical and progressive care patients
Perform focused patient assessments and use critical thinking to recognize and intervene for changes in condition
Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical equipment including ventilators, IV pumps, arterial and central lines, chest tubes, and nasogastric tubes
Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret EKGs to support timely clinical decisions
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care from admission through discharge and support discharge planning
Serve as a clinical leader at the bedside — assist with precepting, mentor colleagues, and provide direction to support staff
Document care thoroughly and follow established policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure required
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required (or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
Recent experience in Progressive Care or Critical Care and practice in an advanced medical-surgical setting required
EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
Pediatric experience, precepting experience, and clinical leadership are strongly desired

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Experience with ventilator support (noninvasive and invasive) and acute respiratory care
Competence with multiple IV pumps, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary care teams
Ability to operate advanced monitoring equipment and follow advanced nursing procedures
