Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice
• Administer medications and manage complex therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and families — to develop and implement care plans
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the medical record
• Participate in orientation, unit education, and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes
• Support families with clear communication and compassionate guidance during critical care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) credential — ready to practice in the role
• Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing
• Ability and willingness to complete required orientation
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — required or willing to obtain
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with critical care equipment and monitoring

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred where available; clinical experience in PICU highly valued

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and interventions
• Familiarity with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and IV medication administration
• Comfort working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Commitment to patient- and family-centered care
