Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to PCU patients
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and vital signs, escalating changes promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to orders
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EHR
• Respond quickly to patient changes and emergencies with calm, competent care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or eligibility via Nurse Licensure Compact
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or progressive care experience (per job posting)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Current clinical skills in telemetry, IV medication administration, and patient assessment
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing diploma required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Progressive care unit protocols and rapid assessment
• IV therapy and medication administration safety
• Electronic health record documentation
• Patient education and family communication
• Time management and prioritization in a busy acute care setting
