Shift Type: Rotating mixed 8- and 12-hour shifts (day/evening) with on-call nights and weekends: typical shift times include 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; on-call windows 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Schedule rotates Mon-Sun as assigned and includes weekends; occasional on-call nights (max 1-2 nights per 6-week schedule).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Recover post-anesthesia patients with calm, expert care — from Phase I to Phase II and pediatric cases
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and act swiftly on changes to keep patients safe
• Manage ventilator and respiratory support transitions (vented to nasal cannula) and collaborate with RT as needed
• Administer and monitor blood products and vasoactive infusions for higher-acuity patients
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure clear, team-wide communication
• Safely transport patients to and from the OR and float to inpatient units when needed as a helpful team player
• Provide compassionate, family-centered care for pediatric patients and patients with disabilities

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to work in North Dakota)
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Prefer 3+ years of acute care nursing experience (PACU or similar) — pediatric recovery experience required
• Comfortable with post-anesthesia care for both Phase I and Phase II patients and able to second-phase patients out of the OR
• Experience with EPIC charting
• Ability to float to inpatient units and help as a sitter or assisting RN when needed
• Able to respond to call within 30 minutes and participate in scheduled on-call coverage

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing acceptable; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia care and pediatric patient recovery
• Ventilator management and weaning to nasal cannula
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and continuous monitoring
• Administration and monitoring of pressors and blood products
• Phase II recovery workflows and patient transport procedures
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Team communication, efficiency, and compassionate patient advocacy
