Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM - 6:30 AM) with night shift designation. On-call M-F 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM; weekend coverage as scheduled (weekend 12-hour blocks: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM). Schedule may vary; 3 weekend shifts per 13-week contract as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in a high-volume, Level 1 trauma operating room.
• Scrub, circulate, and assist in a wide variety of cases including robotic, laparoscopic, trauma, transplant, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, urology and gynecology.
• Manage complex trauma and multi-injury cases with calm, decisive nursing interventions.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology and the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth, safe operative flow and positive patient outcomes.
• Adapt quickly by floating to different units within the organization as clinical needs arise.
• Participate in night-call rotations and provide coverage per unit protocols.
• Maintain accurate perioperative documentation and handoffs to support continuity of care.
• Adhere to facility infection prevention and immunization guidelines (flu vaccine required; medical exemptions only).

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant operating room/surgical nursing experience (explicitly required).
• BLS required; NIHSS preferred.
• Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Comfortable with floating to different units and taking required call.
• Ability to work night shifts and meet the physical demands of a busy OR environment.
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only).
• Travel experience not required for this role (explicitly stated).

• Operating Room procedures and workflow
• Robotic surgery (colorectal, GI, gynecologic, neuro, ortho, ENT, urologic)
• Laparoscopic surgical techniques
• General surgery procedures (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, colectomy, Whipple, thyroidectomy)
• Gynecologic surgeries (abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, D&C, tubal ligation, laparoscopic gyne procedures)
• Trauma care including amputations, burns, GSW/stab wounds, multi-trauma
• Neurosurgery and spinal procedures (craniotomy, fusion, laminectomy, XLIF)
• Orthopedic surgical skills including arthroscopy and joint replacement
• Endoscopic procedures (bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD)
• Transplant and high-acuity perioperative care
