Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, evidence-based intrapartum and postpartum nursing care to birthing patients
Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe deliveries
Assess maternal and neonatal status, recognizing and responding to changes quickly
Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiology and the care team for seamless patient care
Educate and support patients and families throughout labor, delivery and immediate postpartum
Document care thoroughly and accurately in the patient record to ensure continuity and safety

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN eligible) required
Experience in Labor & Delivery preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or encouraged
Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to respond effectively in obstetric emergencies
Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient- and family-centered approach

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Intrapartum and postpartum nursing care
Fetal monitoring interpretation and maternal assessment
Emergency response in obstetric situations
Patient education and family support during labor and delivery
Clear documentation and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
