Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Perform rapid assessment, triage, and ongoing patient monitoring in a fast-paced ED
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies safely and per protocol
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary team members to drive timely care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Support patient and family communication — explain conditions and next steps with clarity
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Hawaii RN license or compact eligibility preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in Emergency Department nursing is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills; resilient under pressure

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid assessment in emergency settings
• Cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and medication administration
• Wound care, splinting, and common ED procedures
• Electronic medical record documentation and handoff communication
• Patient/family education and crisis de-escalation techniques
• Ability to multitask while maintaining patient safety and attention to detail
