Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients, ensuring dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Monitor and document resident status including vital signs, intake/output, and behavior changes
• Support the nursing team by reporting concerns and assisting with care plans
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control procedures
• Engage residents with respectful communication and promote social and emotional well-being

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or state-equivalent (required)
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatrics preferred
• Ability to work night shifts and flexible per-diem scheduling
• Current basic health screenings and ability to pass background checks
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain if required by facility

Education

• Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent training
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Proficiency assisting with ADLs and mobility support
• Accurate documentation and charting skills
• Infection control practices and safety procedures
• Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
• Ability to observe, report changes, and follow care plans reliably
