Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans
• Perform thorough interview-based evaluations to collect symptom history and functional impact
• Execute targeted physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document findings clearly and complete medical report writing in a timely manner
• Complete follow-up administrative work such as addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic reviews as required
• Maintain credentials and participate in required training to stay compliant with VES processes

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) credential — state licensure required for practice in the assigned state
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience with Compensation & Pension exams is strongly welcomed
• Comfort with interview-based exams and hands-on physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength)
• Ability to maintain or provide an office for the provider-owned-office option (within 50 miles of the listed city for that option)
• Willingness to complete required VES training and credentialing

Education

• Nurse Practitioner degree (MSN or DNP) or equivalent NP qualification; active NP license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in conducting structured clinical interviews and documenting functional history
• Proficient in basic musculoskeletal assessments including range of motion and strength testing
• Strong medical report writing and clear, timely documentation skills
• Familiarity with non-treatment evaluation workflows and medico-legal style reporting
• Good time management to complete exams and required administrative follow-up
