Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations of requested body parts for radiologist interpretation
• Acquire high-quality images and maintain meticulous patient records and paperwork
• Provide compassionate patient care across the lifespan, from newborns to geriatric adults
• Maintain and care for ultrasound equipment, including Trophon station infection control
• Participate in and help drive departmental quality assurance and accreditation efforts
• Assume departmental responsibility in the absence of the supervisor and assist with ancillary duties
• Collaborate with referring physicians and support invasive ultrasound procedures as needed
• Pursue continuing education to meet radiology and RDMS requirements and improve skills

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Ability to perform a full range of diagnostic exams related to assigned modality
• Willingness to rotate shifts and travel to various SEARHC sites as required
• Professional judgment and the ability to work effectively under stress and in a team

Education

• ARDMS certification in one modality (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ongoing continuing education to maintain RDMS/radiology requirements encouraged

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ultrasound skills: abdominal and OB/GYN imaging experience emphasized
• Experience with vascular and cardiac ultrasound a plus
• Proficient in image acquisition, documentation, and diagnostic interpretation support
• Familiarity with infection control procedures and transducer care (Trophon)
• Quality assurance, accreditation processes, and attention to neat, organized work areas
• Patient transfer and safe handling skills, plus excellent communication with patients and clinicians
