Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Variable day shifts: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM, or 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM (hired shift may be flexed to meet department needs); typical 36–40 hrs/week depending on hired shift; includes weeknight call (~every 1-2 weeks), weekend call (~every 4-5 weekends), 30-minute response time, and holiday rotation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care to surgical patients throughout the operative experience
• Prepare the operating room and maintain strict sterile technique and safety standards
• Assist the surgical team with instrumentation, specimen handling, and intraoperative needs
• Perform thorough pre-op and post-op assessments and monitor patient status closely
• Respond to call assignments (weeknight and weekend) within the expected 30-minute response window
• Maintain required competency testing and complete Trinity skills checklist and documentation
• Communicate clearly and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellent patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license with verification (Iowa license expected)
• BLS certification (required)
• NIHSS certification (required)
• Comfortable working in the Operating Room and providing perioperative care
• Willingness to participate in call and holiday rotations and respond within 30 minutes when on call
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative nursing knowledge and sterile processing skills
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and intraoperative workflows
• Excellent patient assessment, monitoring, and critical thinking skills
• Clear communication and teamwork in high-paced operating room environments
• Ability to manage call responsibilities and prioritize patient safety
• Experience or comfort with Trinity-specific competency processes and checklists
