Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality acute care across med-surg, telemetry, neuro step-down, oncology, and orthopedics units
• Float seamlessly between floors, adapting to the needs of each specialty and patient population
• Monitor cardiac telemetry closely and intervene promptly on changes in patient status
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and maintain accurate, timely documentation
• Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to ensure safe practice
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and families
• Adhere to required health screenings, infection control practices, and institutional policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Iowa) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
• Comfortable floating to Med-Surg, Telemetry, Neuro Step-Down, Oncology, and Orthopedics
• Ability to travel to and float at West Lakes Campus (approximately 9.5 miles from downtown)
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations (fit test, drug screen, vaccines, TB test, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong acute care and med-surg clinical judgment
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
• Experience with neuro step-down and oncology patient needs
• Adaptability to float across multiple units and workflows
• Competency testing familiarity and commitment to ongoing skills validation
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced settings
