Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative and post-operative nursing care to surgical patients
• Assess and monitor cardiac and surgical patients, responding promptly to changes
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Perform pre-op and post-op patient education and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate patient records and document interventions in the EHR
• Adhere to sterile technique and infection control standards in the surgical setting
• Participate in competency exams and specialty skill checklists to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (License/Certificate Verification required)
• Cardiac experience required (per job description)
• Current BLS certification
• DCI/BVP certification
• Successful completion of required competency testing (Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam)
• Completion of required personal health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB test, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Varicella, influenza, drug screen, fit test, etc.)
• Willingness to work per diem day shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong surgical nursing and perioperative knowledge
• Cardiac patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency in sterile technique and infection control practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy experience
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced OR environment
• Critical thinking and the ability to prioritize patient safety
