Roles & Responsibilities

Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients with compassion and attention to detail
Prepare patients and families for procedures through clear education and reassurance
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative staff to ensure smooth handoffs
Document assessments, interventions and patient education accurately and timely
Ensure safety protocols and infection control standards are followed at all times
Participate actively in orientation and team huddles to support seamless care delivery

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (Ohio licensure or applicable compact privileges)
Experience in pre-operative nursing and pediatric nursing (clinical experience caring for children is essential)
Orientation completion required prior to independent assignment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification recommended or required by facility

Knowledge & Skills

Strong pediatric assessment skills and age-appropriate communication with children and families
Knowledge of pre-operative preparation and pediatric perioperative needs
Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical setting and prioritize tasks efficiently
Clear documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
Teamwork and collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical teams
